Today we hiked the Stanley Canyon Trail 707 beginning on the Air Force Academy. This hike was rated moderate by The Best Colorado Springs Hikes guidebook. I would add that a few areas on the hike were difficult. It is approximately 2 miles to the Stanley Reservoir, but felt much longer. The elevation gain was 1450 feet.
The trail was very rocky and at times difficult to follow, just stay near the creek. I was a little sore the next day from climbing up all the rocks.
Another 1/2 mile to the reservoir. A great place for a rest, or picnic, or even fishing.
The toughest hike I've taken this year, but the reward at the reservoir was worth the effort.
Happy Hiking,
Cindy
